Macey
Hey, there! Macey and Dustin here, sitting in front of a beautiful, freshly-restored mural which was originally painted in 2002 and brought back to life by the one and only Margaret Everson just a few days ago! We are here to bring you the happy news that the Leesburg Center for the Arts has made big changes in our lives. Check out why:
The community sure is lucky to have this hub for creativity, but I know that not all of you live in Leesburg, FL, so I greatly encourage you to seek out an art center near you. I hope they are already as wonderful at the LCFA is, of course, but if they aren’t, then maybe you’re the one that should make it so! Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions and I will do my best to report on what I’ve seen working.
I leave you with an excerpt from my photography project, “100 things I have Learned”. If you enjoy it be sure to subscribe for more or follow me on Instagram @thesigatree
30. You Will Get Stuck
Artist’s block/writer’s block/ creative block/ mental block: there are many names to call it but this pesky predicament happens to us all. It can be described as when you just can’t access the creative side of your brain, and it can strike at anytime. Well, how frustrating is that? But don’t despair my friends, here are somethings you can try.
- Talk to a friend about it and why you became an artist in the first place…
- …or talk about anything but that. Talk of your dreams, the stars, your first childhood memory.
- Travel somewhere new.
- Try a new type of art.
- Revisit past idea books and do any one of them.
- Meditate—hiking counts in my book.
- Clean and organize your space.
- Take care of yourself. Are you sleeping and drinking enough water?
- And sometimes all you can do is wait it out but this will pass, don’t stop now.
